Roadskin revs up for Thunder in the Glens 2024

Thunder in the Glens is an annual bike rally that brings together Harley-Davidson riders and motorbike enthusiasts worldwide. Hosted by the Dunedin Chapter Scotland H.O.G., this fabulous, four-day motorcycling festival takes place in Aviemore, a small, picturesque town in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, on the final weekend of August every year. Thousands of bikers come together to celebrate their love for Harleys, music and good times. It celebrates its 30th anniversary this year - pretty good going for a Chapter!

Roadskin is delighted to be a headline sponsor for the 2024 Thunder in the Glens (TITG).

What is Thunder in the Glens?

From the epic Saturday ride-out, as thousands of Harleys cruise thunderously through the Cairngorms National Park from Aviemore to Grantown on Spey, to the live music, food and displays, Thunder in the Glens has something for everyone, and all are welcome. It's more than a bike rally; it's a uniquely joyous atmosphere and experience: an opportunity to connect with fellow riders, make new friends and create unforgettable memories. All of Aviemore is taken over by the event as around 10,000 people come to town over the weekend, and profits go to local charities.

Why we love Thunder in the Glens

Three years ago, Roadskin had an unexpected yet fortuitous encounter with the people behind The Davidson Legacy (TDL) at the Scottish Motorcycle Show. TDL, known for its deep roots in the motorcycle community, was immediately impressed by the quality and innovation that Roadskin brought to the table, and a great relationship was born. From that chance meeting, Roadskin now works with the charity, has provided designs for marketing materials and custom T-shirts, and donates a percentage of sales to help raise funds.

During this time, TLD recommended that Roadskin exhibit at the Thunder in the Glens.

'Thunder in the Glens has a fantastic, friendly atmosphere,' explains Roadskin founder Ian. 'The whole emphasis is on people enjoying themselves, and there's something for everyone. TITG 2024 will be our third visit and every year; we enjoy it more and more. Even though it's a Harley-Davidson event, bikers of all types are welcome. So, just because you don't ride a Harley doesn't mean you're not welcome. It is a very all-encompassing, family-oriented event with folk coming for the weekend and enjoying everything in the town. For us, it's a great experience, and we love chatting with everyone who comes by - people can come and chew the fat; talk about jeans, jackets, anything motorcycle-related - or anything else, in reality.'

For those new to TITG, the event is deeply rooted in Harley-Davidson culture. It provides a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the heritage and legacy of this iconic brand. We highly recommend visiting The Davidson Legacy, the simple stone cottage that was home to the Davidson family before they set sail for America. A little piece of motorcycling history, the cottage is around an hour away in Aberlemno by Brechin, Angus, and will be open over the Thunder weekend (please check the website for opening hours).
