Why come to the Heritage Sprint 2024?

The Heritage Sprint is a welcoming weekend of bikers and entertainment near Deal in Kent - an entertaining event for motorcycle enthusiasts and families alike.

Are you ready for a summer weekend filled with stunning vintage bikes, entertaining motorcycle races, bike demos, club displays, live music and a relaxed, family-friendly vibe? If so, mark your calendars with 10-11 August for the Heritage Sprint 2024 at Betteshanger Country Park - a classic weekend that gets bigger and better every year.

The Charm of the Heritage Sprint

The Heritage Sprint is a joyous festival of motorcycling culture and history. From classic machines to modern marvels, this event is an opportunity to celebrate beautiful motorcycles with fellow bike and vintage enthusiasts in the open air. On Saturday evening, bands will play in the marquee, and you can also make a weekend of it and camp.

Ian Wilson, Roadskin founder, explains the appeal of the Heritage Sprint: 'The bikes that will be there include classic bikes you won't see anywhere else. This year, they've got one of only 19 Vincent Black Shadows made in the world, and it will be going up and down the drag strip. For that reason alone, if you're a biker, you'd want to go. Then there are the other 150 bikes going up and down, all brilliant and coming in all shapes and sizes. And, when we say it's a race, it's a race, but it's not really competitive. People don't try to win - they do it for fun, just to show off their machines.

Last year, a guy had a Royal Enfield 1915 and went up the drag strip. It took him about half an hour to get to the end, but seeing this beautiful bike going up was lovely and special. The people and the atmosphere are great. It's bike-orientated, but there's stuff that children love, too. The DeLorean car from Back to the Future was there last year, and the kids could travel in the car along the drag strip.

It's unlike Brands Hatch, where you can't get near anything, the fences are high, and the paddocks are all shut off. You can get really close to the action, which is lovely.

The Heritage Sprint is just down the road from us in Kent. It's an actual community event, and the trade is also local.

There's also a vast array of classic bikes from collectors, private exhibitors, and owner clubs on display. You can talk to their owners and get really close to the motorcycles. If you've got a bike that's a bit special, why not exhibit it? Last year, there were 150 motorbikes to see, and this year, the organisers have made space for more. Ian says, 'If you have a really nice bike - a classic bike - you could choose to enter it and display it free of charge in the tent for everyone to look at and admire and say "Ooooh, look at that bike!". It's a great way to get talking to people.' It's possible to book a club display, too.
