The Roadskin team was excited to launch the Rhiannon motorcycle gloves for women at the Women in Moto show last weekend. These are our first gender-specific bike gloves, designed especially for women.
Roadskin's design consultant, Sue-Mee Cheung, says:
Our female customers have been asking for women's motorcycle gloves for quite some time. Up until now, they have mostly been buying our men's gloves in the extra-small size, but they still tend to be too large for them.
I set about creating gloves for women that offer a better fit, are easy to wear, and provide targeted protection, all of which contribute to a more enjoyable and secure ride.
Women's hands need a different kind of fit than men's. The Rhiannon motorcycle gloves aren't just a scaled-down version of men's gloves, but are designed specifically for women's hands, with narrower finger widths and shorter finger lengths. I've been trying them out throughout the entire design process.
I speak with many of our female customers. Primarily, they are looking for safety. They tend to ask if their hands will be adequately protected by their gloves, so they want to know all about the knuckle guard and the padding. They are also looking for gloves that are soft and flexible enough to grip the handlebars properly. During our rigorous testing rounds, we have paid extra special attention to ensuring that you can bend your fingers properly around the bars, allowing you to have complete control of the bike at all times.
These gloves need to look good, too, so the Rhiannons are sleek and understated. They will also work all year round, with the tiny perforations in the leather helping keep your hands cool.
We were delighted by how warmly the Rhiannon gloves were received at the Women in Moto show, with pretty much every customer who tried them on, going on to buy.
