Harley-Davidson is more than a motorbike - it’s a way of life. A name recognised and revered the world over, its glorious motorcycles evoke freedom, speed and the lure of the open road. So how did it get here?

Thanks to the AAA-safety rated Taranis motorcycle jeans that he was wearing when he collided with a motorhome in the Alps, Roadskin customer Mark Lee’s injuries were not nearly as severe as they might have been.

Riding jeans seem a cracking idea. You get protection while you're on the bike, yet they're more comfortable when you reach your destination. I've always found them a compromise, though. Get a pair that look like regular jeans, and you sacrifice safety; but going for proper protection means heavyweight linings, obvious seams and armour, and beer garden discomfort. But these genuinely do it all.

We welcomed the sight of Newham Trading Standards arriving at the London Motorcycle Show at the Excel on Monday to comb through the multitude of stands selling bike clothing – everything from bomber jackets to gloves, hoodies to motorcycle jeans – including ours.
