What the motorcycle press say about our gear

A few samples of reviews from very experienced journalists during real world testing of our Taranis Elite motorcycle jeans for men.

Tested for 12 months / 3000 miles by Mike Armitage, MCN Magazine.

"Riding jeans seem a cracking idea. You get protection while you're on the bike, yet they're more comfortable when you reach your destination. I've always found them a compromise, though. Get a pair that look like regular jeans, and you sacrifice safety; but going for proper protection means heavyweight linings, obvious seams and armour, and beer garden discomfort. But these genuinely do it all.
They're single-layer denim with a slim straight-leg cut, barely weigh more than Levi's, have plenty of stretchiness, and show nothing to suggest they're riding clobber.
Thanks to Kevlar in the weave they have the highest AAA protection rating, and they come with discreet hip and knee amour, which can be adjusted. I have my cake, and I can eat it."

"Saying these single-layer jeans from British firm Roadskin look and feel ‘just like jeans’ may seem obvious, but it’s high praise. Apart from the CE Level 2 armour, there’s nothing to give these away as anything other than a comfy pair of denim trousers – and yet, they achieve the highest CE rating of AAA. And that’s not just the rating for the fabric, either, it’s for the jeans as a whole. Given that a triple-A rating was until quite recently largely reserved for leather garments, this is impressive.

The fit is slim enough to look cool without being overly restrictive and they’ve got a Lycra component in the fabric that means you can move freely on the bike. They’re perfectly comfortable and I could easily sit and work in them all day after wearing them to commute. They look the part, too, and you could easily wear them to ride to the pub and not feel conspicuous. The fabric is thin enough to keep you cool on warmer days and I’ve been wearing them into autumn with a baselayer underneath."

Bennetts Bike Social Review

"The Roadskin Taranis motorcycle jeans are superb value AAA-rated single-layer jeans that I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to those looking for some comfortable, practical urban-style kit."

Tested by Justin Hayzelden for four months

"One of the biggest reasons for wearing jeans is that they don’t look like motorcycle gear, and the Taranis are bang on in that respect. They’re a straight cut and I’ve worn them all day in the office, strolled around at bike shows and even spent an evening up the pub without anything other than a comment on how smart I look for a change.

The Roadskin Taranis Elite fit true to size, look great and are amazingly comfortable, and for the price and level of protection they offer, incredible value for money. Appearances may be casual, but they’re serious about safety.
